Chelsea's Log - 1/8/2010 - 12:55 p.m.

Well, I'm sitting in GAB107 waiting for IMC (Introduction to Mass Communication) to start. This is the first time I've been in one of the auditorium-like classrooms here at Troy. It's huge, and kind of intimidating. I think I'm going to like it, though. More later, Professor Colaco is here.

Home Sweet School

I know...it doesn't really have the right ring to it, but it's going to have to do for the time being. Today is the first day of the 2010 Spring Semester here at Troy University, and I'm getting ready to unpack my car and go to class. I'm really glad that we're starting the semester on a Friday. It's kind of like easing us back into school mode with a whole weekend to recover conveniently inserted directly after the first day of classes. I only have one class today, Introduction to Mass Communication. Sounds like fun, right?

Let's hope so!

More Later,
Chels

Chelsea's Log - 1/7/2010 - 3:30 a.m.

Okay, so I decided to start carrying a small notebook around with me as a log for my thoughts when I'm away and not immediately able to post them on my blog. When I get the chance, I'll post them on here under the heading "Chelsea's Log," along with the date and time that the thoughts/ideas/comments came to me. So, here goes my first one.

School hasn't even started yet, and I'm already stressed out about Educational Psychology. I got on Blackboard earlier, and it seems like this guy is hardcore. His name is Rolf Holtz, but I'll just call him Professor Holtz from now on. He's the only professor who already has stuff up on Blackboard. That makes me kind of nervous. Very nervous. I need to talk to Dr. Waters, though I will refer to her as Professor Waters in this log, about all the things I need to do for the TEP (Teacher Education Program) this semester. Oh, well...I suppose I should go to bed, now. Apparently, I'm driving back to Troy in the morning.

Dear Body,

It seems like you're really unhappy with me, lately. I'll let you know right now that I did not appreciate being awake all night, ill, because you just had to pull your usual going-back-to-school ruckus. I know you're not really fond of the place. Sometimes, I'm not fond of it either. But, let me tell you a secret, okay? We need a degree so that we can get a good career. Know why? Because we need to make a living. For ourselves. We can't rely on other people to do that kind of thing for us. I don't want us to ever have to depend on a man to put a roof over our head, food on the table, and money in the bank. Fact is, we can't depend on other people to do right by us. We shouldn't have to depend on other people. It isn't right. Now, let's get this good and straight right now: I don't want to be sick and worn out when we start school on Friday. We've got a long semester ahead of us, and there's a lot of work to be done. So, I'd appreciate it if you'd get it together so we can get some rest, pack, get our Godforsaken, chaotic room clean so Mom will stop stressing about it, and get to school well-rested. I'd like to start off on a good note. I thank you kindly for your consideration.

Much Love,
Chelsea

P.S. Do us a favor and kick this stomach virus to the curb, please?

Finished The Giver

So, I finished reading The Giver today. There was a lot I'd forgotten, so I'm glad I decided to re-read it for Young Adult Literature (henceforth abbreviated as YAL), rather than just winging it and reading the assigned novels I've never read before. I think, at least I hope, that this class is going to be a very enjoyable one.

I started Philip Pullman's The Golden Compass today, so we'll see how that goes. I like it so far!

More Soon,
♥ Chelsea ♥

*Indicates a book that I've read previously, but that I still need to re-read for the class.

I have a confession to make...

Ever since I ended things with my long-time on-again, off-again boyfriend for good, I haven't been able to handle anything normal in the relationship department. Since January I've been a heartless droid. Guys getting too close to me creeps me out, now. I guess what I'm saying is that I fail at relationships. I don't want a relationship. I want a guy who'll entertain me when I want to be entertained, and who'll bugger off and leave me alone when I want him to. I need a jukebox boyfriend who'll play when I drop in a few coins, and who'll shut up and sit inconspicuously in the corner otherwise. I hate being this jaded, but I don't know how else to be. I'm so screwed up right now. What if it's permanent? I have such ridiculously high standards in my head of what I want the next guy I date to be like. I don't think anyone can live up to them. I think I'm crazy, and broken, and I don't know what the hell to do.

I dated my ex from October 25, 2003 until this January. It was on-again, off-again, but I didn't really date other people. I spent about six years giving my all into a one-way relationship. Don't get me wrong. I'm not trying to publicly derogate my ex. If anyone messed things up, it was me. I got too serious when I was way too young, and it got me nothing less than the biggest heartache I've ever had in my life. Why? Because I was stupid. I put so much of myself into trying to keep him happy that I ended up making myself bitter, jaded, and hard-hearted. If you've ever seen He's Just Not That Into You, you'll know what I mean when I say I was a total Gigi.

Now? Now I'm a mess.
